Set in the country town of Lennoxtown at the foot of the Campsie Fells, Dingieshowe Cottage is a spacious modern bungalow with plenty of room to relax!
The cottage is in a quiet cul-de-sac between Lennoxtown Main Street and the Strathkelvin Railway Path, a traffic-free foot and cycle path. There are lots of walks (level or steep), cycling destinations and scenic drives in the immediate area, plus plenty of brilliant attractions in easy reach by car or by bus. With a wide range of amentities nearby, including shops, pubs and restaurants, it’s the perfect recipe for a peaceful break and an ideal base for exploring Scotland.
This lovely bungalow, situated in a quiet estate at the foot of the beautiful Campsie Fells, has everything you could want for a comfortable, convenient holiday base.
The cottage is all on one level, with level access throughout, and as such is particularly suitable for people who have disabilities, mobility problems or young children.
We can accommodate up to 6 adults (8 can be accommodated on special request, and a small surcharge is payable). It offers three well furnished bedrooms (one with a walk-in wardrobe), two of which can be arranged to suit various configurations – double, twin, or single. In addition, there is a comfortable bed settee in the living room if needed.
The spacious living room has plenty of seating to relax after a day out, and has TV, DVD, and WiFi connection, and has views over the garden to the impressive Campsie Fells.
The large kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances (fridge/freezer, washing machine, oven and hob, microwave, small electric mixer, pressure cooker etc.).
A well proportioned tiled bathroom with electric over-bath shower completes the accommodation.
The cottage is triple glazed and well insulated, and has gas central heating. All linen is supplied, as well as cleaning materials etc.
If you want a very comfortable house with all modern conveniences to make for a stress-free holiday, then Dingieshowe Cottage is the one for you.
Broad deck area and patio, a sheltered sun-trap! There is also a large private fenced garden to the front, suitable for kids to play in safely, or adults to relax. Garden furniture is available from a small shed on the patio.
Take the M8 out of Glasgow heading for Edinburgh and Stirling. After Junction 14, keep an eye open as the road divides a short distance later. Take the left fork for the M80 to Stirling and Kincardine. At junction 3, take the A806 to Kirkintilloch. Follow this road on towards and then through Kirkintilloch, until you reach a T-junction at traffic lights. Turn right onto Glasgow Road, and then at the next set of lights, turn left onto Campsie Road between McDonalds Fast Food and Lidl Supermarket, and stay on this road, through Birdston to Milton of Campsie â€“ turn left when you reach a T junction and cannot continue straight ahead. You will travel through the village of Milton of Campsie. This is less than 2 miles from Lennoxtown. As you enter the Lennoxtown village, you will come to a set of traffic lights. On the right hand side, is a rough stone wall, with the name â€˜Lennoxtownâ€™ embedded in it. You are nearly there! At the next set of lights, turn immediately left, into Glazert Meadow. Dingieshowe is No. 4, the first bungalow on the right, below the grassy bank.
Take the M9 and at Ingleston Roundabout, (about 2 miles past the airport), heading towards Stirling. 13.6 miles later, left onto the M876 for Glasgow for 5.3 miles, then join the M80. Take exit 4 from M80. At junction 4, take the A803 to Kilsyth/Bonnybridge. Turn right off the small roundabout from the slip road, and you will find you are crossing over the motorway, into the village of Haggs. Travel on this road, through Kilsyth, turning off onto the A891 towards Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown. (It is easy to miss the junction â€“ if you reach Kirkintilloch, you have gone too far but donâ€™t despair! Turn left onto Campsie Road between McDonalds Fast Food and Lidl Supermarket, and stay on this road, through Birdston to Milton of Campsie â€“ turn left when you reach a T junction and cannot continue straight ahead. You will travel through the village of Milton of Campsie. This is less than 2 miles from Lennoxtown. As you enter the Lennoxtown village, you will come to a set of traffic lights. On the right hand side, is a rough stone wall, with the name â€˜Lennoxtownâ€™ embedded in it. You are nearly there! At the next set of lights, turn immediately left, into Glazert Meadow. The cottage is situated in a small group of houses on the eastern edge of the country town of Lennoxtown. The village has all the facilities that you need – two large and some small grocers (the Co-op is open till 10pm at night), two repair garages, a petrol station, newsagent, hairdressers, cafe, restaurants, fast-food outlets, a butcher, gift shop, pharmacy, doctor’s surgery, three churches, two lovely parks (including children’s play park and pond with ducks), a golf course. It is also 3 miles from Kirkintilloch, with a wide range of shops, and only 25 minutes drive from Glasgow’s city centre, one of Scotland’s two major cities. Or travel east and you are soon on the road to Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth – easy access to the M9, M80 and M8 takes you rapidly to all the key areas of Scotland.
Lennoxtown nestles at the foot of the beautiful Campsie Fells, and their towering crags can been seen from windows of the house, changing colour with the seasons – green with spring grasses, purple with heather, golden with bracken – or wrapped in ethereal mists, waterfalls tumbling down their rugged crags. The Campsies provide wonderful scope for hiking, fishing, birdwatching, wild flower study, entymology or just wandering. Books are available in the house to help you develop these interests.
The pretty Glazert Water is only 2 minutes from your door, with a path alongside it that gives a lovely level country walk to the shops, or beyond into the wider countryside.
The Campsie Fells offers incredible walks with such breath taking views, and a short drive are walks also include Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, the Fintry and Kilpatrick Hills and more.
