A spacious barn conversion with a hillside pool, overlooks several acres of secluded meadow, and an orchard belonging to the 12th century manoir of La Meynardie.

The property comprises a large, open-plan living space, combined with a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Four comfortable chairs, teak coffee table and a stone fireplace in this high-beamed room provide for a cosy stay. The fitted kitchen includes an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine, along with kitchen utensils, washing machine/tumble dryer, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher. Glasses and cutlery for ten people are also provided. The traditional dining table seats eight, with a dedicated electric radiator, and a lamp suspended over the dining table.

A traditional oak staircase leads up to the mezzanine area – an ideal hide-away for younger guests with a three-seat sofa and two chairs, television with English channels, DVD’s, books and games provided. Leading out from the living area through French doors, the veranda runs the length of the building, allowing access to the swimming pool. The spot captures all the day’s sun, and is an ideal al fresco dining spot, with an eight-piece teak outdoor dining furniture set.

With direct access to the veranda, the master bedroom on the ground floor also has internal access to the living room and bathroom. The room has a comfortable double bed with two bedside tables, two chairs and a generously-sized wardrobe. A dressing table and small linen closet provide extra storage. The second, ground floor double bedroom accesses the veranda via patio doors at the south of the property. There is also internal access to the bathroom and the first floor bedroom above it. The room has a double and single bed, bedside tables, two chairs, chest of drawers and wardrobe.

The ground floor bathroom also accesses the veranda, and is tiled throughout. A heated radiator and ventilator are installed for winter. The walk-in shower (with bench seat), basin and toilet are designed for people with disabilities and wheelchair access.

Upstairs, the double bedroom with adjacent bathroom is accessed via the mezzanine and includes a large double bed, and similar decor. The bathroom includes a full-size bath with shower, wash basin and toilet and is accessed via the corridor leading from the mezzanine to the bedroom. The children’s bedroom, with sloping ceilings, has twin beds, and similar decor.

 

Outside

 

Our pool is paved with non-slip tiles, and has a solar shower. Wide steps lead down to the shallow end (1.10m) and slopes down to the deep end (2.00m). A rigid cover insulates the pool and provides child-proof security (in compliance with French law).

Underwater and external lighting on the hill-side allow evening use and a robust shelter provides shade in Summer with table, chairs and sun lounger.

Nearest Airport: Bergerac – 29 kms (approx).

Nearest Ferry Port: San Sebastien – More than 30 kms (approx).

 

Location

 

La Meynardie is easily accessible by road, air and rail. It is situated just below the village of Siorac de Ribérac on the road to St. André de Double. Siorac de Ribérac is located just off the road to Mussidan some six kilometres south of Ribérac.

Bergerac airport hosts low-cost flights from multiple destinations in the UK and is only 50 minutes drive from Siorac de Ribérac. Bordeaux (Mérignac airport) has both low-cost and regular international scheduled flights and is 100 minutes drive from Siorac de Ribérac. Brive is also an option and receives direct flights from London City Airport. All airports offer care hire.

The most convenient SNCF rail stations are Angoulême (if coming from Paris) or Mussidan (if coming from Bordeaux). Only Angoulême has car hire options.

‘Kabarole’ provides comfortable, self-catering accommodation for up to eight people at any time of the year. The following rates (in euros and sterling) apply during 2018, per week according to the season:

 

Low Season € 960 £ 775

(21 October to 11 May)

 

Mid Season €1,330 £ 1,075

(12 May to 15 June and 01 September to 19 October)

 

High Season €1,960 £ 1,580

(16 June to 31 August)

 

Outside the High Season, parties of maximum four people and maximum two people will be offered 20% and 25% reduction respectively to the weekly rates indicated above.

All rates include shared use (with the Nicholson family) of the swimming pool during summer months (the swimming pool is open from mid-May to the end of September)

Supplement for visitors requesting exclusive use of the swimming pool €185 or £150 per week.

These rates are from Saturday 18.00 hrs to Saturday 11.00 a.m. They include gas, water, electricity and shared use of the swimming pool. Bed linen and towels (for house and pool) are provided and included in the rates. Firewood and radiators are provided during the low season.

Bookings can be secured by advance payment of 40% of the rent. The balance must be paid six weeks before arrival. Refunds will be provided for cancellations six weeks before the arrival date less 25% which will be charged as a cancellation fee. Refunds four to six weeks before the arrival date will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. No refund is available for cancellations less than four weeks before arrival. A security deposit of €320 or £260 (normally refundable) should be paid with the balance of the rent confirming the booking six weeks before arrival.
