This pleasant, deceptively spacious bungalow is on the eastern outskirts of Great Barton village.  It is 4 miles east of historic Bury St Edmunds; famous for its twice weekly street market and the Cathedral’s new tower.

Accommodation is all ground floor, suitable for older and less mobile guests, part-time wheelchair users (mobility level 2) and hearing impaired (level 1). Central heating by gas, and fitted carpets in the bedrooms.




Lounge & Snug

The lounge is large and spacious. It is at the back overlooking the garden.

There are 2 armchairs and 2 x 3 seat sofas. All seats are 530mm high.

There is a widescreen ‘SMART’ TV on the wall which can show subtitles if the programme provides.

You will find board games and jig saw puzzles.

The Snug is a smaller room providing a quiet place to sit and read; a cosy place to play or read to the children; or to watch a DVD on the second TV which is not connected to an aerial.

Full instructions can be found here for Wi-Fi internet which can be used in any rooms in the home.


Kitchen & Dining

Kitchen is spacious and has a tiled floor.

Electric oven is integrated below worktop with gas hob over. There is an electric filter hood over the hob with its own light. There are plenty of cupboards and drawers.

Cold sink tap supplies drinking water as there is a water softener installed.

The taps are lever type.

Fridge and freezer are under counter. There is a microwave oven and a small dishwasher. Also provided – coffee maker, cafetiere and sandwich toaster, as well as the usual kettle, toaster and radio. Grip gadget for opening lids provided. Perching stool available.

There is plenty of space for a small table and chairs should you wish to eat in the kitchen, or feed children while preparing another meal.

There is a small TV.

In the utility room you will find a front loading automatic washing machine and a condensing tumble dryer.

There is an ironing board and iron, and airer.

There is a rotary clothes line which can be set in the back lawn.

The conservatory is set up as dining room. The table seats 8 but will extend. There are two carver chairs.

The floor is wood boards and the level is a step down from the main dwelling.

There are two doors into the conservatory and a ramp is fitted from the kitchen through French doors.



Bedroom 1:  Double bed, overbed lights, bedside drawer, alarm clock, fitted wardrobe, fitted carpet.

Bedroom 2: Twin beds, bedside lamps, bedside cabinets, alarm clock, fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers, fitted carpet. Ensuite shower room.

Alternatively, beds can be made up as a Superking double

Bedroom 3: Bunk beds (3 feet wide, full length), wall lamp by top bunk, lamp by bottom bunk, alarm clock, freestanding wardrobe, bedside cabinets, desk, fitted carpet. Next to family bathroom.

Bedroom 4: King size bed, bedside cabinets with lamps and alarm clock, freestanding wardrobe, dressing table, fitted carpet. Ensuite shower room.

Basin with lever taps and cabinet over with mirror doors and shaver point inside.



W.C is in a corner with a lift and raise grab rail beside.

Clockwise turn to sit. Seat is 430mm high. Seat raiser available 100mm.

The regular seat incorporates a toddler seat.

Shower cubicle is 900mm, tray is only 70mm from floor and there is a horizontal grab rail inside.

Whirlpool bath has lever taps and vertical grab rails on wall.

As stated above two of the bedrooms also have ensuite shower rooms.




Double garage and off road parking for up to 4 vehicles at the front on paved driveway. Sloping concrete path around the side of the bungalow to access back garden and patio.

We request no smoking inside the dwelling. On the rear patio there is a cigarette disposal box.

Some outdoor games and toys available, also barbeque.

Large enclosed back garden with sunny and shaded areas to relax or play. Bench seat under pergola and swing seat on lawn.




Wylene is situated about 300 yards off the A143 and 3 miles from the A14.

You will find it an excellent base for exploring East Anglia (UK’s driest area).

Ideal for country lovers, walking and cycling; it takes about one hour to drive to the coast.

Filling station / convenience store ½ mile.

Pub with food 300 yards.
